Robert J. Benak, MD, FAAP

    Provider's Bio

    Dr. Benak was born in Southern California. He is a graduate of the University of South Alabama where he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in June, 1986. He then completed a Pediatric Residency program at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham and joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic in the summer of 1989.

    Dr. Benak is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He serves as Laboratory Director for each of the full-service labs of Dothan Pediatric Healthcare Network.

    He received the distinguished Master Pediatrician award from Children’s Hospital in 2001. Since 1991, this award has been bestowed annually to a pediatrician in practice for at least ten years, nominated by a former recipient and voted on by his peers for contributing greatly to quality of life for children in Alabama. He is a member of the Alabama Academy of Pediatrics, Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and Houston County Medical Society.

 

 

Michael J. Ramsey, MD, FAAP

    Provider's Bio

    Dr. Ramsey was born in Huntington, West Virginia. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Auburn University where he received a Bachelor of Science, German and Pre-Med Studies. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After completing a three-year Pediatric Residency program at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Dr. Ramsey joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic.

    Dr. Ramsey is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. In 2017, he served as the president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Alabama Chapter. He is actively involved in political issues that affect the healthcare of children in Alabama. He is a member of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and Houston County Medical Society.

    In 2009, Dr. Ramsey received the distinguished Master Pediatrician award form Children’s Hospital. Michelle S. Freeman, MD, FAAP

    Provider's Bio

    Dr. Freeman was born in Jacksonville, Florida and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She is a Cum Laude graduate of Auburn University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She then completed a three-year Pediatric Residency program at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. In the fall of 1999, Dr. Freeman joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic where she has served as the Reach Out and Read Director since 2003.

    Dr. Freeman is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the Alabama Academy of Pediatrics and has previously served as the organization’s Area 5 Representative. Dr. Freeman has served on the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee for Alabama Medicaid.

 

 

Jeffrey M. Tamburin, MD, FAAP

    Dr. Tamburin was born in Passaic, New Jersey. He is a Cum Laude graduate of Tulane University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Dr. Tamburin earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in June, 1999. He then completed a three-year Pediatric Residency program at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham where he was recognized for excellence in clinical performance. In the summer of 2002, Dr. Tamburin joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic.

    Dr. Tamburin is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. As a member of the Alabama Academy of Pediatrics, he served as the organization’s District Representative (2005-2009) and has also served as the State Legislative Chair. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Medical Association of the State of Alabama and Houston County Medical Society.

 

 

Mark F. Strassburg, MD, FAAP

    Provider's Bio

    Dr. Strassburg was born in Charlottesville, Virginia. He is a Cum Laude graduate of the University of South Carolina where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1993. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of South Carolina, School of Medicine, in May, 1997. He then completed a three-year Pediatric Residency program at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, in 2000. As a young pediatrician, Dr. Strassburg practiced medicine in the United States Navy for four years. During the next five years, he practiced pediatric medicine in small southern towns. He joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic in February 2009.

    Dr. Strassburg has been certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics since 2000. He is a proud member of the Alabama Academy of Pediatrics, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the Houston County Medical Society.

 

 

Allison E. Walker, DO, FAAP

    Dr. Walker was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, Birmingham, Alabama, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology-Psychology in 2007. Dr. Walker earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, Kansas City, Missouri in May, 2012. She completed a three-year Pediatric Residency program at University of Alabama at Birmingham and joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic in August of 2015.

    Dr. Walker is certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a member of the Alabama chapter. She is also a member of the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and the Houston County Medical Society.

 

Meghan Benak, MD, FAAP

    Dr.Benak was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Dothan, Alabama. She graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University, Auburn, with a Bachelor of Science degree, Biomedical Sciences, with Minors in both Business and Spanish, 2010.

    Dr. Benak earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of South Alabama, College of Medicine, 2016, and completed her three-year Pediatric Residency program at Louisiana State University, Children’s Hospital New Orleans, 2019. She joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic in November 2019.

    Dr. Benak is board certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a proud member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the Houston County Medical Society.

 

 

Joanna A. McKinley, MD, FAAP

    Dr. McKinley was born and raised in Dothan, Alabama. She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science in 1997. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree with Research Honors from the University of South Alabama in May 2002. She then completed a Pediatric Internship program at University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Pediatric Residency program at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, Mississippi.

    Dr. McKinley has been certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics since 2005. Before joining Dothan Pediatric Clinic in the fall of 2008, Dr. McKinley was a pediatrician in Jackson, Mississippi and Birmingham, Alabama.

    Dr. McKinley received the Southern Society for Pediatric Research Trainee Travel Award (1998) and America’s Top Pediatrician Award (2008). She is a proud member of the Alabama Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Medical Association of the State of Alabama and the Houston County Medical Society.

 

 

Amanda J. Murray, MD, FAAP

    Dr.Murray was born in Dothan, Alabama and raised in Chipley, Florida. She graduated cum laude from the University of Florida, Gainesville, with a Bachelor of Health Science degree in 2010 and graduated from Florida State University, Tallahassee, with her Master of Biomedical Science degree in 2011. Dr. Murray earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from Florida State University College of Medicine, Tallahassee, 2015.

    In 2018, she completed a three-year Pediatric Residency program at Levine Children’s Hospital, Charlotte, North Carolina and joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic in September of that year.

    She is a proud member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

 

 

Adam DeLong, MD

Adam DeLong, MD, FAAP

    Provider's Bio

    Dr. Adam DeLong is a general pediatrician licensed by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners and board-eligible with the American Board of Pediatrics.

    Dr. DeLong earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia and completed his three-year Harriet Lane Pediatrics Residency Program at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland.

    In August 2022 Dothan Pediatric Healthcare Network welcomed Dr. DeLong as a pediatrician at Dothan Pediatric Clinic.

 

 

Amy Marshall, FNP-BC

    Provider's Bio

    Amy Marshall was born in Richmond, Virginia. She is a graduate of Atlantic Christian College, Wilson, North Carolina where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Alabama in 2003. During her studies, Amy worked as a Registered Nurse in the cardiac department at Flowers Hospital. Her advanced training also includes cardiac rehab at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, Albany, Georgia; and nursing in the neurology department at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville, North Carolina.

    Amy is licensed as a registered nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing and certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is authorized for Advanced Practice Nursing by the Alabama Board of Nursing. She joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic providing pediatric patient care in the summer of 2004. Amy enjoys encouraging parents and teaching pediatric patients how to live in a healthy way, while they remind her to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

 

 

Tera Knighton, CPNP-PC

    Provider's Bio

    Tera Knighton was born and raised in Geneva, Alabama. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and Master of Science degree in Nursing, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, from the University of South Alabama, Mobile. During her studies, Tera worked as a Registered Nurse in the newborn nursery at Southeast Alabama Medical Center; and, a Registered Nurse at Dothan Pediatric Clinic. She has provided pediatric care as a nurse with Dothan Pediatric Clinic since 2008 and as a nurse practitioner since 2014.

    Tera is licensed as a registered nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing and certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care, by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She is authorized for Advanced Practice Nursing by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Tera is a Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society member and a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
