Dr. Barron is a graduate of Auburn University where he received a Bachelor of Science, Industrial Engineering. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After completing a three-year Pediatric Residency program at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Dr. Barron joined Dothan Pediatric Clinic – where he has practiced for over three decades. Currently, he is one of nine physicians who are Shareholders of the practice.
Dr. Barron is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the American Medical Association, Alabama Academy of Pediatrics, Medical Association of the State of Alabama and Houston County Medical Society.
He received the distinguished Master Pediatrician award from Children’s Hospital in 1995. Since 1991, this award has been bestowed annually to a pediatrician in practice for at least ten years, nominated by a former recipient and voted on by his peers for contributing greatly to quality of life for children in Alabama. In 2014, Dr. Barron was honored with the Children’s of Alabama Wallace Alexander Clyde Distinguished Service Award for Excellence in Pediatrics. This award recognizes outstanding physicians who have devoted a lifetime of service to children and their families; recipients are chosen by a select committee of leaders in the field of pediatrics. Dr. Barron has served as Chief of Staff and Chief of Pediatrics at Flowers Hospital and as President of Medical Staff and Chairman of the Pediatric Committee at SAMC.
